What's New in 2010
Registration
Starting in 2010, all MDA member dentists will need to register to attend the Star of the North Meeting (either online or using a registration form). Registration will continue to be free, but we are requesting that you pre-register to allow us to accurately plan for your attendance. If you decide to attend at the last minute, you can still do so, but will need to stop by the member registration desk onsite to pick up a name badge to access either the exhibit floor or the continuing education programs. Be prepared, if you decide to register onsite, you have to wait in line. We strongly encourage members to pre-register.
In the past, the MDA has automatically registered all members and mailed out name badges at a significant cost in printing and postage, even though only about 50% of members take advantage of the member benefit of meeting attendance. This registration change has been made in an effort to make registration more efficient, accurate and to provide a cost savings to the MDA.
Continuing Education
Table Clinics are a great alternative for quick and efficient CE. The Clinics will be relocated to the exhibit floor, near the cafe to provide a quieter learning environment and to ease traffic congestion on the meeting room level. Table Clinics will now be available during three convenient times on Friday, April 23:
9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Course Handouts
The Star of the North is "Going Green" to benefit the environment and minimize paper waste by providing course handouts online this year. Each attendee will be sent an email a few weeks prior to the meeting with a link to download the program handouts for which you are registered. Handouts will also be accessible through the Star of the North website.
Exhibits
The Star of the North is excited to debut the Exhibit Hall Premiere Night on Thursday, April 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event is designed to allow dentists exclusive access to the exhibit floor without all the distractions during the day. The event is free and will feature a relaxed environment with complimentary wine and beer. We ask that dentists pre-register for this opportunity and with each registration, you will receive two complimentary tickets to bring along a spouse of staff member.
